We found three secret techniques that worked to create crema by the inverted method. After trial and error, we learned the tricks that worked best.

When we make coffee in the Aeropress, we add hot water over the coffee and stir it. In this method, don’t stir the coffee at all.
- Step 1 – Place the filter on the cap of the Aeropress and screw the cap on the Aeropress. You can use a metal filter or paper filters, it’s up to you.
- Step 2- Ground the espresso roast coffee beans using a coffee grinder. Pour 20g of the grounded coffee into the Aeropress chamber.
- Step 3- Tamp the coffee grounds.
- Step 4- Cover the coffee grounds with a paper filter to not stir up when you add hot water.
- Step 5- Put the Aeropress on your mug.
- Step 6- Heat water at 200 degrees F and not exceed the water temperature to more than 205F. Pour 75ml of the hot water into the chamber and then insert the plunger into the chamber and push it hard.
- Step 7- Enjoy the crema you created.
Secret Method B Much Better Alternative For Crema
In a nutshell, it’s the same as secret method A but with a couple of changes.
Some people like the crema layer that was created in secret method A. It left the crema on their drinks, and they loved it.
This method produces a similar layer and uses an attachment for the Aeropress called the Fellow Prismo attachment.
The Prismo is a glass attachment that can fit onto the AeroPress® Coffee Maker.
This allows you to use hot water at the right temp and has high pressure to create a crema-like layer. The pressure of the Prismo is more than what the Aeropress has.
Because you can control the temperature and pressure, the Prismo attachment allows you to control how much foam is going into your drink.

This method gives fantastic results as the crema layer looks like it was created through different techniques.
We love this method because it lets you enjoy the coffee just as much without worrying about the crema layer.
