What is Turkish Coffee?

Ozdemir Pasha, the Turkish Governor of Yemen, was the first to bring Turkish Coffee into Turkey. He was the one who discovered it in his region and brought it to the attention of Suleiman the Magnificent – Sultan. After coffee beans were introduced to Turkey, a new way of producing the “black drink” was created.
The Sultan's palace attendants pounded roasted beans and boiled them with water in an earthenware pot discovered nearby the first time it was produced in Turkey. This pot is still called "cezve" today.
In the Palace, a new coffee brew arose. It became trendy among palace residents and was quickly discovered by Ottoman nobles for the first time!
This delightful drink would later be consumed throughout Turkey’s empire, with many people being aware of it in a short period. Turkish coffee quickly became a lucrative business.
After being presented to the Ottoman court and other high elite ruling bodies, the Turkish people fell in love. They began to open cafes to provide this novel drink alongside delicacies such as pastries or baklava!
The palace and other high-level governing entities hired specialist artisans known as “kahveci usta” to manufacture ceremonial cups.

Best Roast for Turkish Coffee

How to make it?
Now that you know the history and the basics of Turkish coffee, it’s time to make some! There are two methods of making Turkish coffee. However, both ways utilize a unique pot called “cezve” in Turkey or “ibrik” in Arabic countries.
Though the brewing method is similar to that used for drip-style coffee, you'll use a much finer grind, and you'll typically have to stir the brew briskly throughout its preparation so that it doesn't burn on the bottom.
Lets us first collect the equipment :
You will need a cezve or ibrik or any other cezve that can work, but the small ones are more convenient to use.
You will also need approximately one tablespoon of finely ground coffee per serving. You can add as much sugar as you like, but sugar is typically added to taste.
Finally, a big serving spoon is needed for mixing the coffee grounds and water. It helps prevent clumps from forming during the process and makes sure that all of the grounds get wet.
To choose a cezve, you must select a suitable material. They are made from a variety of materials. Each material’s thermal conductivity is unique. Silver, copper, gold, aluminium, platinum, and stainless steel are all available.
Copper is a favourite among Turkish severe coffee lovers since it is excellent as silver but about ten times less expensive. Turkish coffee is also served in a demitasse and a saucer.
- 10 grams of finely ground Coffee
- 100 ml water

- In an ibrik, combine 10 grams of finely ground coffee and 100 ml of room temperature water.

Turkish Coffee vs Espresso
Turkish coffee differs from a regular “Espresso” because it’s brewed in a cezve, whereas Espresso is brewed in an espresso machine. Turkish coffee is prepared from ground coffee beans and hot water.
Espresso is prepared from roasted beans, steam, and water. Espresso has the advantage that you can grind your beans for use.
On the other hand, Turkish coffee generally has more flavour than Espresso because of its brewed method.
Espresso also has more caffeine than Turkish coffee because more coffee beans are used in the process. Some claim that Turkish coffee has less caffeine than a standard espresso. The espresso flavour is said to be much more acidic and less aromatic.
Turkish Coffee vs Americano
